Terms of service

Draft of October 22, 2026

Colors is software that runs the administration of queer, leather and kink nonprofits: membership, dues, events and check-in, meetings, voting and a club website. These terms are between Colors and the organization that signs up (“your club”), and they cover everyone who uses Colors through it.

Who is responsible for what

  • Your club controls its members' data. It decides who joins, which officers hold which roles, and what it asks members for. Colors stores and protects that data on the club's behalf and only uses it to run the service. See the privacy policy.
  • The person who starts a club agrees to these terms for it and confirms they are allowed to.
  • Officers sign in with a second factor (a passkey or an authenticator app), because their role can reach other members' records.
  • Each club's data is kept separate from every other club's. One club can never see another's.

Administration, not adult content

Colors hosts club administration and community information. Explicit images and explicit text are not allowed on club websites, in event listings or anywhere else in Colors. We may hide content that breaks this rule and will tell the club's officers why.

Age

  • Kink and leather clubs are for adults. Everyone confirms they are 18 or older when they join.
  • Youth programs (for example a youth chorus or youth Pride) are only allowed on accounts that are not kink or leather clubs.

Money

  • Your club connects its own merchant account. Payments go straight to the club. Colors never holds, pools or moves the club's money.
  • Card numbers are typed on the payment processor's own page. Colors never sees them.
  • Refunds, disputes and chargebacks are between the club, the payer and the processor. Cash, checks and bank transfers are recorded by the club's officers.

Safety and bans

Incident reports go to the club's own safety team. A ban applies to that club only. Colors never shares ban lists or reports between clubs.

Acceptable use

Don't use Colors to:

  • out, harass, threaten or stalk anyone, or publish someone's personal details without consent;
  • break the law, or sell anything your payment processor hasn't approved in writing;
  • try to reach data your role doesn't allow, or another club's data.

We may suspend an account that does, and will tell the club's officers why unless the law stops us.

Leaving

  • An officer can download all of the club's data at any time as a set of spreadsheet files.
  • Each member can download their own data and ask to have it deleted, from their privacy page.
  • When a club closes its account, we delete its data within 30 days. Backups roll off within a further 14 days.

The service

Colors is new and in early access. We work hard to keep it running and backed up, but we can't promise it will never be down or lose data. Keep your own export of anything you can't lose. Our total responsibility to a club is limited to what the club paid us in the past 12 months.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email each club's officers at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
